The Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPyC) has awarded our researcher Íñigo Aniel-Quiroga with the second “Modesto Vigueras 2019 Award”, which rewards young professionals from the port and coastal sectors, for his work “Advances in the resistant design of maritime structures exposed to the action of tsunamis”.

The award-winning work addresses the challenge of designing maritime structures under the action of tsunamis. It presents for the first time formulations for the design of docks on slopes, incorporating for the first time the loads that this natural phenomenon can generate in its impact on the structure and its shoulder. This work is part of the studies carried out by Íñigo during his doctorate. The Doctoral Thesis was carried out at the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria), under the direction of Mauricio González and César Vidal.
