The thematic blocks organized by IHCantabria will address advanced solutions for port adaptation to marine renewable energies and innovation in marine energies through MAR+

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute of  the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria) will actively participate in the Technical Conference “Offshore wind, hydrogen and ports: a winning combination“, organized by Sea of Innovation Cantabria Cluster (SICC), to be held at its facilities on October 1 and 2, 2025.

In addition to its Assembly Hall, IHCantabria will make available to participants several rooms, equipped with audiovisual equipment and connectivity, which offer a favorable environment to facilitate the promotion of professional interaction and networking of representatives of various companies participating in the Business Connection Spaces (ECE), which will be held at the end of the conferences.

The objective of the ECE is twofold: to allow companies to present solutions, products and projects with a technical approach, and to provide visitors with an agile tour of different proposals ─related to offshore wind, hydrogen and ports─, generating contacts and business opportunities in a natural way. IHCantabria sponsors the organization of two thematic blocks.

1st thematic block

One of the Business Connecting Spaces (ECE) ─ scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, from 14:15 to 15:00─ will focus on a thematic block on “Advanced Solutions for Port Adaptation to Marine Renewable Energies.” will be held on Wednesday, October 1, from 14:15 to 15:00. This thematic block will put the focus on planning, investment and operation and maintenance (O&M) as determining factors to accelerate the integration of marine energies in ports. It will bring together specialists from industry and research, with the aim of identifying strategies to strengthen port resilience in the current context of energy transition. The debate will be moderated by Antonio Tomás, head of the Ports and Coastal Infrastructures Group, and Lucía Meneses, representative of the Marine Energy and Offshore Engineering Group.

2nd thematic block

The second thematic block organized by IHCantabria is entitled: “Innovation in marine energy through MAR+: standards, certification and multi-scale testing”. It will take place on Thursday, October 2, from 14:15 to 15:00. This block will present the advances developed in the framework of the MAR+ project, focused on the application of international standards (IECRE), certification and integration of tests at different scales: from the laboratory to the open sea, through the strategic collaboration between IHCantabria and BiMEP. The discussion proposed in this block will be moderated by Álvaro Álvarez, head of the Marine Energy and Offshore Engineering Group, and Cristina Casal, representative of the same group.

A technical conference of international relevance

The Technical Conference “Offshore wind, hydrogen and ports: a winning combination” will bring together more than sixty leading experts in renewable energies, ports and maritime industry to analyze the technological, logistical and regulatory challenges that will mark the integration of offshore wind. Among the invited speakers are representatives from leading companies such as Navantia Seanergies, Plenitude Iberia, Ocean Winds, Tresca Ingeniería or Saitec Offshore Technologies, as well as regulatory institutions and research centers.

Complete information on these technical conferences is available on the event’s website: offshorecantabria.es. Access to the Business Connection Spaces will be free for attendees who register in any thematic block, through the following email: info2@afidcongresos.com
