The Environmental Hydraulics Institute of Cantabria (IHCantabria) has been awarded the project “Strengthening of the capacities to attract international talent IHCantabria”, in the framework of the 2024 call for grants promoted by the State Research Agency (AEI, for its acronym). This call is aimed at supporting the preparation and management of European projects and facilitating the attraction of international talent in research and development institutions in Spain.
This project aims to strengthen the capabilities of IHCantabria to attract, incorporate and consolidate scientific profiles of international projection, in line with its institutional strategy of internationalization and research excellence. For its implementation, it is funded by the AEI, within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.
Carlos Gutiérrez Abascal, manager of IHCantabria and principal researcher of this project, values very positively the support of the AEI: “This support represents a great opportunity to further develop the international potential of IHCantabria. It allows us to advance in our commitment to attract top-level scientific talent and to strengthen our capabilities as a world reference center in the provision of innovative solutions to challenges related to the integrated management of socio-ecological systems associated with water”.
With this award, IHCantabria reinforces its commitment to scientific quality, international cooperation and the training of highly qualified personnel, in a global context where competitiveness and knowledge transfer are key to face the environmental challenges of the present and the future.

The objective of the project is to strengthen IHCantabria’s capacity to attract, incorporate and consolidate scientific profiles of international projection, in line with its institutional strategy of internationalization and research excellence.
