Cantabria, with ten companies and the participation of the General Director of Industry, Daniel Alvear, attended today the GoInterHub (Galician Offshore International Hub).

The 5th International GoInterHub Congress organized by GOE-Asime, Windar Renovables, Navantia and the Xunta de Galicia highlights the “enormous potential” for growth of the offshore wind market and the development that this industry is acquiring in aspects such as job creation.

Among the more than 300 professionals who gathered at the Innovation and Services Center in Ferrol (La Coruña), the community of Cantabria participated with ten companies belonging to the Sea of Innovation Cantabria Cluster (SICC), one of the three industrial clusters linked to offshore wind energy in northern Spain, together with the Sea of Innovation Cantabria Cluster (SICC), the Galician Offshore Energy Group (GOE-ASIME) and the Asturias Energy Technology Consortium (AINER).

The Director of Industry, Daniel Alvear, has valued the meeting very positively, not only for the advances established, but also for the positioning of the Cantabrian companies in the renewable energy sector, highlighting the alliance to promote offshore wind energy in the Cantabrian Sea through the Supercluster Atlantic Wind (SAW), which took place in September at the IHCantabria (Santander), where an agreement was signed by the governments of the Principality of Asturias, the Xunta de Galicia and the Government of Cantabria to jointly promote the offshore industry and technology.

In addition to disseminating the enormous growth potential of the offshore wind market, the meeting has also advanced in the design of a hydrogen energy program linked to maritime transport and the first steps have been taken between companies and representatives of public administrations with a view to coordinating support and funding actions.

In this sense, the Sea of Innovation Cantabria Cluster (SICC), aims at the comprehensive development of advanced projects in the field of marine energy in order to propose innovative solutions to the technological challenges of the sector, the integration of all actors operating in the marine energy sector in Cantabria and the realization of studies aimed at deepening the knowledge of marine technologies, promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve joint solutions for the benefit of the sector.
