London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2026 is an international event that brings together organizations, communities, businesses, activists, researchers, artists, and individuals to address the challenges posed by climate change.

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria) is reinforcing its commitment to developing resilient and sustainable strategies by promoting international collaboration to address global challenges at London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2026. This is one of the leading international gatherings, bringing together leaders, institutions, and experts from around the world to share innovative solutions to the challenges posed by climate change. This forum, which took place in London from June 20 to 28, set records for both attendance and the number of events organized dedicated to climate action.

In this edition, IHCantabria has participated in numerous events focused on various topics relevant to the institute’s mission and vision, such as climate and health, water risk and finance, water resilience in cities, and the role of scientific evidence in financing and adapting to climate change.

The events have brought together leaders, technical experts, and founders to share innovative solutions, build networks, and explore partnerships that will help address today’s most critical climate challenges.

Of particular note was the participation of Jesse DeMaria-Kinney, representing IHCantabria, in the London Climate Resilience Finance Summit—a key LCAW event focusing on innovative financial instruments, climate risk management, and public-private partnerships. IHCantabria also participated in the roundtable discussion “Water in Urban Cities: From Risk to Resilience,” which focused on the fundamental role water plays in urban planning and the search for solutions to build water resilience. This session, which brought together a select group of leaders from various fields—including cities, finance, technology, and infrastructure, advanced the agenda of the United Nations Water Conference, to be held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) from December 8 to 10, 2026.
