This institute supports the Universidad de Cantabria’s micro-credentials proposal with two innovative initiatives -TRASMARES and ADAPTA BLUES-, which will contribute to the sustainability of marine ecosystems in a context of climate change
The Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria) reaffirms its commitment and involvement with quality education and continuous training, with its active participation in the development of university micro-credential certificates of the Universidad de Cantabria (UC), an official accreditation that provides added value, both in the academic and professional fields. Its current offer includes two training programs: TRASMARES and ADAPTA BLUES.
The first edition of the “University Micro-credential Certificate in Sustainable Marine Ecosystems (TRASMARES) is a training course originally associated with the European Erasmus+ TRASMARES project, which aims to deepen the knowledge of marine ecosystems, understanding their functions, benefits and the main threats they face. Its content is taught in English (with subtitles in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and English) and is already available from mid-October until January 31, 2025, in the online modality. The registration and enrollment period for TRASMARES will be open until December 20, 2024.
TRASMARES offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary and practical training, specialized in tools applied to the conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems, with an approach aligned with the Decade of the Oceans and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); especially SDG 14. Its offer is aimed at professionals, graduates, postgraduate students and vocational training students with an interest in environmental studies and sustainable management of marine ecosystems.
The first edition of the “University Micro-credential Certificate in Adaptation to Climate Change in Estuarine Ecosystems” (ADAPTA BLUES) which will start in January 2025. Its training proposal is based on the knowledge and experience acquired in the European project LIFE AdaptaBlues ─executed between 2019 and 2024─ and in two previous editions as a training itinerary. Its training is focused on the restoration of estuarine ecosystems and adaptation to climate change. Its content is taught in English (with subtitles in Spanish, German, Portuguese and English) and will be available from January 7 to June 15, 2025, in the online modality. The registration and enrollment period for ADAPTA BLUES will open at the beginning of next year.
Both TRASMARES and ADAPTA BLUES are available through the portal of Estudios Propios de la UC and the Portal de Capacitación ECCE-IH.
Participation of IHCantabria in the Conference on microcredentials at the UC
To confirm IHCantabria’s commitment to the UC microcredentials proposal, on Friday, November 22, José A. Juanes, Director of Education and Capacity Building at IHCantabria, participated as a speaker at the round table on “Training experiences in collaboration between the university, entities and companies”, which was part of the conference “Microcredentials in the UC for companies and entities”.
During this conference, which took place in the Gómez Laa Hall, the MicroCreds Plan was presented ─a program funded by the Government of Cantabria until June 2026─ within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This project seeks to promote short and specialized training for people between 25 and 64 years old, meeting the demands of the labor market and strengthening the collaboration between the UC and companies, entities and public administrations in the region.
In his speech, José A. Juanes highlighted the value of collaboration between academic institutions and socioeconomic agents, to ensure that the micro-credentials respond to the current real needs of continued specialization and the professional environment; in the case of IHCantabria, associated with the search for solutions to problems related to the integral water cycle.
Next information session on the MicroCreds Plan in Santander
Following up on the micro-credentialing proposal, an information session will be held this week on the implementation of the MicroCreds Plan at the UC, following the agreement reached with the regional government. This session, which will be open to UC faculty, will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at 16:00, in the Assembly Hall of the Faculties of Law and Economics and Business. In line with this initiative and with its mission to generate knowledge of excellence and specialized training, IHCantabria will support this initiative with its TRASMARES and ADAPTA BLUES microcredentials.
