Biography
A Civil Engineer with a PhD in Coastal Engineering, he is a researcher in the Coastal Engineering and Management group at IHCantabria. His main area of work covers coastal engineering, the development and application of numerical models, coastal risk assessment, wave-structure interaction and the study of tsunami hazard. He has participated in more than 20 projects such as ASTARTE, the Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the coast of Lima, the study of extreme coastal risks in Senegal and the development of tools for the tsunami warning system in Spain. He has authored or co-authored 21 papers, such as “Stability of rubble-mound breakwaters under tsunami first impact and overflow based on laboratory experiments” or “Working with nature to enhance beach accretion: Laboratory experiments of beach ploughing” and “Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard and Risk Analysis: A Review of Research Gaps”.
In terms of associative participation, he is actively involved in the following: Association of Civil Engineers, Global Tsunami Model, EPOS and NEAMTWS, among others.
Finally, he has been awarded the following prizes:
2nd Modesto Vigueras Prize of the ATCyP – 2019.
Cantabria Digital Award for the best App of the year 2017.
