TRL Plus is the overall solution to test marine energy technology in deep waters, supporting offshore system developers in the pathway from a concept to the market.
The marine energy devices can be tested at three different environments:
- Laboratory – At the cantabria coastal and ocean basin
- Marine site – At the BIMEP site
- Virtual Lab – Through the decision support system for marine renewable testing devices
The decision support system for marine renewable testing devices is based on a metocean forecasting system, a downstream application that makes use of the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS), AEMET service, in situ sensors (metocean buoys, etc) and numerical modelling techniques to provide a virtual lab to test the devices and provide decision support for the BIMEP marine site where the devices are being tested.
