Biography

Marta Ramírez Pérez is graduated in Marine Sciences from the University of Cadiz (2008) and completed a Master’s Degree in Integrated Coastal Zone Management from the Universidad de Cantabria (2010).

She conducted her PhD thesis in the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) from Barcelona, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (FPI fellowship program), obtaining the European/international Doctoral Degree in Marine Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2017). Her research activity from 2010 to 2017 took place at several international research institutions: University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (Germany), Forschungszentrum Küste (Hanover, Germany) and Univali University (Santa Catarina, Brazil).

She has worked over the last 5 years as applied researcher and project technician at IHCantabria. She is specialized in numerical modelling and statistical analysis of climate variables and extreme events, as well as in the study of Climate Change effects on surface dynamics variables (i.e. sea level and wave climate). Through all these years, she has participated in more than 12 international and national research projects and has published seven research articles (four of them in Q1 journals and three as conference proceedings).
