Mª Cruz Rodríguez González
Biography
Mª Cruz Rodríguez has a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Oviedo and a PhD from the University of Cantabria (2000). With the support of a FPI grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education, she developed her thesis in the Department of Molecular Biology of this university, where she carried out the characterization of a Brucella abortus aquaporin and its role in virulence. During her predoctoral stage, she made short stays in the laboratory of Dr. David O’Callaghan, at INSERM U-431 (Nimes, France), and at the University of Rennes (France), with Dr. Christian Delamarche. She has participated at postdoctoral stays at the Salk Institute (La Jolla, CA), the Scripps Institute (La Jolla, CA) and at the Microbiology Service of the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla-IDIVAL.
Since 2009, she has worked at the University of Cantabria as a Laboratory Technician assigned to the Massive Sequencing Service of IBBTEC, where she has participated in numerous research projects. During these years she has continued training and had stays in prestigious laboratories, such as the biopolymers service of Harvard University (Boston MA), the sequencing service of the Australian National University (ANU, Canberra) and the sequencing service of TSRI (La Jolla, CA). In addition, she has collaborated in teaching in the Molecular and Cellular Microbiology subject of the Master of Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the University of Cantabria, from 2014 to 2024.
Mª Cruz Rodríguez is currently working in the Hydrobiology laboratory of the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the University of Cantabria (IHCantabria).
