Biography

Lorena L贸pez is a technologist at the Marine Climate and Climate Change Group of IHCantabria. She holds a degree in Public Works Engineering from the Universidad de Cantabria (2009), a degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Surrey in the UK (2016) and a Master's degree in Coastal and Port Engineering from the Universidad de Cantabria (2020).

Since 2009 Lorena has developed her professional activity in the private sector in projects related to civil engineering. She started working for a reference construction company in the water treatment sector in projects for the public administration. The last 7 years she worked in the Oil&Gas sector in a major engineering consultancy in The Hague, The Netherlands and has participated in numerous national and international projects both greenfield, brownfield, revamp and turn-around, in refineries and chemical plants in Belgium, Germany, France, China, Singapore and USA. She has held roles as a specialist engineer in structural design and calculation; chief engineer responsible for technical team management, project execution and client relations, including international assignments in Mexico and India; and business development in the identification of opportunities and development of commercial solutions.

She is currently involved in the implementation of national and international projects in the field of risks related to long-term and extreme weather events, developing methodologies for the assessment of impacts and risks related to climate change.
