Biography

Director of Technological Transfer of the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics (IHCantabria). Economist from the Universidad de Cantabria, and Master in General Business Management from IESE (University of Navarra). He was for 6 years General Director of the Regional Development and Venture Capital Society of Cantabria (Sodercan), managing a team of 70 people, an asset of 25 million euros and a portfolio of 18 participated companies, during which he founded and coordinated the project “Cluster of Renewable Energies of Cantabria” which brings together public sector companies (research centers, university, etc.) and private (SMEs). During 2012-2015, Visiting Scholar in the Technology Transfer Office of Cornell University (USA), being responsible for renewable energy projects and creation of startups. Currently, he is also professor of creation of ‘Startups’ in the master’s degrees of the Universidad de Cantabria. Specialized in the elaboration of Strategic Plans for Regional Development, especially in sectors of renewable energy, blue economy and circular economy. Promoter of the first marine energy cluster in Spain, and representative in this sector in several international organizations. He has more than 20 years of experience in Public and Private Sector Business Administration, having participated in 20 Boards of Directors. He has proven experience in the industrial sector, in company restructuring and negotiations. Recognized by his colleagues of the Professional College, as Economist of the year 2006.
