Biography

Cristina Prieto Sierra has been a researcher at IHCantabria since 2008. She holds an international PhD in Hydrology (2014-2017), is a Civil Engineer and MSc in Integrated Water Resources and Coastal Zone Management from the Universidad de Cantabria.

She has participated in international and national R&D&I and consultancy projects (about 40) in the areas of hydrology and river hydraulics.
She is also co-organizer of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

RESEARCH LINES

Prediction in ungauged and non-stationary basins
Bayesian Inference and Prediction
Estimation and reduction of uncertainty in hydrology and environmental systems (including uncertainty in the structure of models and data).
Mathematical hydrological and environmental systems modeling
Regionalization and classification of basins.
State-space models, Bayesian assimilation of hydrological data and real-time forecasting
Integration of hydrological risks with urban growth models.
