Biography

Araceli Puente Trueba has a degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Marine Sciences. She is Professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the Universidad de Cantabria, and teaches at the School of Civil Engineering. Since 2015 she has been the coordinator of the official master’s degree in Integrated Management of Water Systems.

She is attached to the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria), where she is the coordinator of the Coastal Ecosystems Group. Her research work focuses on the study of spatio-temporal patterns of benthic communities (macroalgae, macroinvertebrates), as well as on the analysis of environmental risks linked to estuarine and coastal ecosystems, with special interest in the effects of anthropogenic pressures and the impacts of climate change.

He has published 59 articles in scientific journals indexed in SCI (27 Q1), 17 chapters in books and 12 articles in non-indexed scientific journals and dissemination publications. He has participated in more than 30 research projects at national and European level, and more than 48 research contracts of special relevance with companies and/or administrations.
