Biography

Andrés Mendoza Munizaga is graduaded in Civil Engineering (2009) from Univesity of Bío-Bío, Chile, with a Coasts and Ports Master Degree (2011) from the University of Cantabria. He has also the Project Managment Master Degree (2018) from Polytechnic University of Catalonia – EAE Business School a PMP® Project Management Professional Certification from Project Management Institute PMI. This training allows him to understand the nature of each Project and then optimize its execution.

Previously, he has been working as a student assistant in the subjects of Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics and Structural Engineering in different universities in his home city. Later, he worked in construction and Geotechnics, developing studies of slope stability and its study by Finite Element Method.

He started working in the Hydraulics, Coasts and Offshore laboratory of IH Cantabria in June 2010 as part of the research internship and his master thesis work. He is part of the Laboratory team since 2011, working first on design, construction and evaluation of physical model projects for Coastal and Offshore Engineering, focused on maritime structures and rubble mound breakwaters. From 2014 to 2019 he was in charge of the execution, design and managing of structures, morphodinamics and offshore physical modelling projects, increasing his expertise in movable bed projects and wave generation. From 2019 is Lead Physical Modelling expert, working both, as a Project manager of the laboratory and as an advisor of several projects.
