VERÓNICA CÁNOVAS LOSADA
Biography
Verónica Cánovas is a Civil Engineer, a PhD in Coastal Engineering (Universidad de Cantabria) and currently researcher of the Coastal Management and Engineering Group at IHCantabria.
Her main area of expertise covers coastal numerical modeling, coastal processes and engineering, beach morphodynamics, coastal risk assessment and management and climate change impacts on coastal areas. In addition, she contributes to the development of numerical models, tools and methodologies regarding coastal hydro-morphodynamics and coastal risks, especially for Coastal Modeling System (SMC) and SMC-Brasil.
She has participated in more than 30 research and consultancy projects in coastal engineering and management (national and international) dealing with coastal evolution and morphodynamics or coastal erosion issues among others.
In terms of publications, she has co-authored 17 publications in scientific journals and conferences related to coastal evolution, beach morphodynamics and wave climate analysis.
She also has experience in education and training of practitioners and researchers through tailor-made workshops and courses or Master’s course in Coast and Ports of the Universidad de Cantabria.
