Irene Maestra Onteniente
Biography
Degree in Political Science and Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid and she studied at Hull University (UK) for a year as an Erasmus exchange student. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Management from the Open University (PG Dip Dev Mgmt - Open) and she is specialized in Innovation Management (INGENIO CSIC-UP Valencia) and Intelligence (UNED- Gutiérrez Mellado Institute).
Her professional experience started in 2000 as Project Executive at Halcrow (CH2MHILL, UK). For 2 years, she performed business development and project management assignments for international technical assistance contracts funded by multilateral institutions (EU - EuropeAid, IADB).
For more than 15 years, she has worked both in the public and the private sector, providing project planning, implementation and monitoring services. She also has extensive experience in the areas of strategic communication, fund raising, bid preparation and business intelligence.
She has carried out these duties for 9 years at the Universidad de Cantabria (UC), both in the International Campus of Excellence project office and the European Projects office. Since 2017, she has been responsible for the coordination of the 2019-2023 University of Cantabria Strategic Plan. She was also designated as a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility technical committee and she volunteered at the UC social engagement group.
In 2019, she joined the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of Cantabria (IHCantabria) as Senior Administration Technician within the Project Planning Service at the Research and Technological Transfer Management Unit.
