Biography

Carlos V.C. Weiss is an expert in decision sciences applied to spatial analysis. In recent years, his research has focused on maritime spatial planning and ocean multi-use approaches, with a primary emphasis on renewable energy industries and offshore aquaculture. He has experience in database analysis, multi-criteria decision models, GIS-based (Geographic Information Systems) mapping, climate change projections, and stakeholder engagement. He holds a degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Marine and Coastal Environmental Management from the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (UERGS-Brazil), a master’s degree in Coastal Management from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG-Brazil), and a technical course in GIS from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Brazil (IFRS). He earned his Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering, Hydrobiology, and Aquatic Systems Management from the University of Cantabria/Environmental Hydraulics Institute in Spain.
