Biography
Master in Marine Science and Technology (1998) and PhD in Civil Engineering (2005). Since 1996, when he finished his studies in Civil Engineering, he has participated in more than 20 research projects financed in public calls, both national and international. He has participated as a researcher in the development of more than 120 research projects with companies and public administrations (25 of them as Principal Researcher). He has published more than 40 papers in books and scientific journals (27 of them in indexed journals) and more than 75 contributions to national and international conferences.
He has directed 7 PhD theses and 25 MSc papers. As a Researcher of the Group of Underwater Outfalls and Environmental Hydraulics of the University of Cantabria in the period 1996-2007, he was awarded in 2002 with the National Prize of Environment and the Social Council Prize of the University of Cantabria. Since 2007 he has been a researcher at the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the University of Cantabria. Since 2011 he is Professor in the Hydraulic Engineering area in the Department of Water and Environmental Sciences and Techniques of the University of Cantabria, where he has been Sub-Director (2014-2017) and, currently, Director, and where he teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is also member of the Scientific Association of Marine Studies (ACEM).
