Biography

Felipe Julio Barragan is an oceanographer from the University of Antioquia (Colombia). He completed his master’s degree in physical oceanography at the Naval Cadet School “Almirante Padilla” (Colombia) and another one in Coastal Planning at the State University of Santa Catarina (Brazil).

He worked in different research projects, mainly focused on the effects caused by the passage of synoptic scale phenomena on coastal areas and since July 2023 he is part of the research group of Oceanography, Estuaries and Water Quality of IHCantabria, focusing on supporting the task of developing an operational oceanography system, which will provide real-time prediction of sea level, ocean currents, temperature and salinity in the bay of Santander.
