Andrea Costales Llata
Biography
Andrea graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Cantabria in 2021, with a major in logistics and transportation systems. Subsequently, in 2023, she obtained his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the same university, specializing in Transport, Urban and Regional Planning, defending his final work with honors.
In addition, she has previous work experience in a research group, where she worked in the field of characterization and analysis of erosion risk in coastal cliffs. Her work involved the combination of numerical wave models, data analysis and statistical modeling.
Since November 2023 she is a student of the PhD program in Coastal Engineering, Hydrobiology and Management of Aquatic Systems (FPI) in the Climate Risk, Adaptation and Resilience group. The main line of her research consists of developing a methodology to economically evaluate the protection against flooding (and implicitly erosion) offered by the different elements of the waterfront both in isolation and as a whole, identifying the non-linearities derived from their combination.
LINES OF RESEARCH
Coupled modeling of coastal flooding and erosion at different scales.
Evaluation of the flood protection value of beaches and other waterfront elements.
