Biography

Alberto Vélez holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Huelva and completed the Official Doctorate Program in Historical and Natural Heritage. Research, Protection, Dissemination and Didactics of the University of Huelva and holds a PhD in Ecology from the same university.

His doctoral thesis analyzes the changes in the plant community after the ecological restoration of a transformed marsh in the Doñana National Park, including the evolution of the seed bank and the recolonization of shrub and helophyte species.

During his thesis, he spent several periods at the School of Biological Sciences of the University of East Anglia (Norwich, United Kingdom), where he studied in depth the reference conditions for restoration processes.

He has participated in several research projects and has experience in vegetation and soil sampling, environmental characterization, ecological niche modeling, as well as in the use of GIS and statistical tools.
