Environmental Economics

Environmental economics provides the tools to efficiently analyze and solve problems such as fisheries or forest management, loss of environmental biodiversity or pollution control.

Environmental economics plays an increasingly important role in the study of current problems related to the environment, natural resources and climate change. It has become a key instrument in policy development around the world, for example, in creating markets for pollutant emissions, sustainable use of natural resources or conservation of ecosystems.

At IHCantabria our researchers are able to develop solutions aimed at an efficient management of natural resources

Climate change, as an example of an environmental problem that affects the entire planet in a global way, is another area in which environmental economics can provide solutions from an economic perspective.
