The Fundaci\u00f3n Instituto Hidr\u00e1ulica Ambiental de Cantabria (FIHAC) has successfully concluded the 2024 year of its project financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, aimed at covering the costs of activities related to the use and maintenance of the experimental infrastructures of the ICTS MARHIS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

During 2024, two main work packages were carried out. The first, the Facilities Maintenance Program (PT1), covered preventive and corrective maintenance of the laboratory facilities, as well as the implementation of technological improvements. Among the most important activities were the installation of a new real-time control system for the CCOB wave generator, the maintenance of the overhead crane and forklift, and the repair of defects in civil works. In addition, in-house sensors were developed and the floating device tracking and laser scanner systems were maintained. The second package, the Facilities Access Program (PT2), facilitated access to infrastructure for researchers and technologists, highlighting the experimental campaign for coastal protection by nature-based systems, led by researcher Mar\u00eda Maza. An active ballast control system for floating devices was also implemented, improving the productivity and accuracy of the tests. In addition, an inventory control system was incorporated into the laboratory’s warehouses, optimizing the management and location of equipment and materials.<\/p>\n

The Fundaci\u00f3n Instituto Hidr\u00e1ulica Ambiental de Cantabria (FIHAC) will continue with these activities in the next year, following the guidelines of the granted aid and maintaining its commitment to innovation and the development of sustainable solutions for the coastal and offshore sector.<\/p>\n

About ICTS MARHIS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS) are unique and exceptional facilities where cutting-edge research of the highest quality is carried out. ICTSs act as centers for the transmission, exchange and preservation of knowledge, the transfer of technology and the promotion of innovation, and are open to competitive access.<\/p>\n

MARHIS (Maritime Agregated Hydraulic Infrastructures) is a distributed ICTS that aims to increase the efficiency and capacity of Spanish numerical, experimental and field facilities in coastal, port and offshore engineering. Among its facilities is the GTIM\/CCOB, which is managed by FIHAC.<\/p>\n
