La informaci\u00f3n cartogr\u00e1fica de los h\u00e1bitats marinos es imprescindible para poder realizar estudios de biolog\u00eda y ecolog\u00eda sobre una especie o h\u00e1bitat. Los l\u00edmites de distribuci\u00f3n de las especies suponen el nivel de conocimiento b\u00e1sico para dise\u00f1o de experimentos cient\u00edficos, an\u00e1lisis del efecto del cambio clim\u00e1tico, cuantificaci\u00f3n de servicios ecosist\u00e9micos, programas de seguimiento, evaluaci\u00f3n de impacto ambiental, an\u00e1lisis de presiones, planes de gesti\u00f3n de \u00e1reas marinas protegidas y procesos de decisi\u00f3n relacionados con la gesti\u00f3n costera.<\/p>\n

A pesar de la importancia de conocer la distribuci\u00f3n de las distintas especies y h\u00e1bitats, se observa una carencia de dicha informaci\u00f3n especialmente en el medio marino. Por ello, el objetivo general de CARTOMAR es mejorar el conocimiento sobre la biodiversidad marina en el norte de la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica, necesario para la gesti\u00f3n de la zona litoral, mediante la recopilaci\u00f3n de datos hist\u00f3ricos de especies bent\u00f3nicas de flora (macroalgas) y fauna (peque\u00f1os invertebrados). El resultado generado en el proyecto (bases de datos y cartograf\u00edas disponibles on line<\/em>) supondr\u00e1 una \u00fatil herramienta de trabajo en todos los \u00e1mbitos de la gesti\u00f3n e investigaci\u00f3n de la biodiversidad y los recursos marinos.<\/p>\n

El proyecto CARTOMAR<\/strong><\/p>\n

El proyecto CARTOMAR persigue mejorar el conocimiento sobre la biodiversidad en el norte de la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica necesario para la gesti\u00f3n de la zona litoral, mediante la recopilaci\u00f3n de datos hist\u00f3ricos de especies bent\u00f3nicas de flora y fauna<\/p>\n

El conocimiento adquirido y los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto CARTOMAR dotar\u00e1n a las Administraciones P\u00fablicas, tanto nacionales como de las Comunidades Aut\u00f3nomas de Galicia, Pa\u00eds Vasco, Asturias, Cantabria y Pa\u00eds Vasco, de cartograf\u00edas sobre la distribuci\u00f3n de h\u00e1bitats y especies litorales. Esta informaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 de gran utilidad para la gesti\u00f3n de los espacios naturales protegidos y el cumplimiento de distintas Directivas Europeas.<\/p>\n

El conocimiento adquirido y los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto CARTOMAR dotar\u00e1n a las Administraciones P\u00fablicas, tanto nacionales como de las Comunidades Aut\u00f3nomas de Galicia, Pa\u00eds Vasco, Asturias, Cantabria y Pa\u00eds Vasco, de cartograf\u00edas sobre la distribuci\u00f3n de h\u00e1bitats y especies litorales. Esta informaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 de gran utilidad para la gesti\u00f3n de los espacios naturales protegidos y el cumplimiento de distintas Directivas Europeas.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de avanzar en el conocimiento sobre la distribuci\u00f3n de especies marinas donde la informaci\u00f3n es limitada, se compilar\u00e1n datos biol\u00f3gicos no publicados que de otra forma se perder\u00edan. Esta informaci\u00f3n estar\u00e1 disponible de forma gratuita en la base de datos OCLE (http:\/\/ocle.ihcantabria.com\/<\/a>). Finalmente, se generar\u00e1n cartograf\u00edas de la biodiversidad en la fachada noratl\u00e1ntica de la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica, donde se incluir\u00e1 adem\u00e1s de las cartograf\u00edas informaci\u00f3n sobre las especies y una descripci\u00f3n del litoral.<\/p>\n
