Julius John Togores Dimabayao is a Horizon Europe Marie Sk\u0142odowska Curie Actions (MSCA) predoctoral researcher in IH Cantabria. He was previously a geoscientist in the geothermal and renewable energy industry. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Geology from the University of the Philippines Diliman (2006-2010), and two master\u2019s degrees: in Earth Sciences from the University of Auckland in New Zealand (2014-2017), and in the Erasmus Mundus program in Coastal Hazards, Risks, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation (2022-2024), jointly given by the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands, Universidad de Cantabria in Spain, and Universidade do Algarve in Portugal.<\/p>\n

While his research interests span many disciplines, including geology, geochemistry, coastal engineering, and climate science, they all converge in the pursuit of understanding the dynamics of hazards and risks in environmental and human systems. Moreover, he also has a passion for learning history and cultural heritage, which led him to pursue his PhD under the MSCA Archaeological Coastal Heritage program (arche.uio.no) in IH Cantabria and Universidad de Cantabria. The objective of his research is to develop a holistic risk assessment framework for climate change-related environmental threats that can be applied to coastal Stone Age sites, and eventually, other culturally significant heritage sites for their adaptation and future management.<\/p>\n
