box_shadow_vertical_tablet=&#8221;0px&#8221; box_shadow_blur_tablet=&#8221;40px&#8221; box_shadow_spread_tablet=&#8221;0px&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antonio Tom\u00e1s<\/strong> is Civil Engineer, graduated in Hydraulics, Oceanography and Environment by the University of Cantabria (1997-2003), Master in Science and Technology for Coastal Management by the University of Cantabria (2003-2004), PhD in Marine Science and Technology by the University of Cantabria (2003-2009) and currently head of Ports and Coastal Infrastructures Group of the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the University of Cantabria (IHCantabria).<\/p>\n<p>His main research interests include wave climate characterization for port infrastructures, probabilistic design and optimization of ports, and port infrastructure management; in all of them, he has made a notable contribution to the innovation in the application of statistical techniques related to Artificial Intelligence. In terms of publications, he has authored 50 publications, of which 19 in SCI journals (17 Q1 and 2 Q2); and he has participated in more than 100 communications in national and international conferences. In 2011 he was awarded the &#8220;Modesto Vigueras&#8221; award to young professionals by the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (the Spanish section of the PIANC organization).<\/p>\n<p>During his professional career, Antonio stands out mainly for his capacity to promote multidisciplinary and collaborative scientific excellence and knowledge transfer, in particular to the port sector, to build resilient coastal and port infrastructures.
