Biography

Postdoctoral researcher at IHCantabria, Master in Coastal Zones Integrated Management from Universidad de Cantabria, and Bachelor in Marine Sciences from Universidade de Vigo, she started working at the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of Universidad de Cantabria in 2009, when se was accepted for the doctoral program “Science and Technologies for coastal management”.

Her PhD thesis, advised by Sonia Castanedo, Giovanni Coco and Raúl Medina, focused on the development and long-term evolution of tidal wetlands drainage networks. She was a visiting scholar at Princeton University (USA) under the direct supervision of Profesor Ignacio Rodríguez-Iturbe. Her research activity focused on characterizing the statistical properties of drainage networks on tidal estuaries. She developed a novel methodology to obtain those networks from hydrodynamical information of estuarine systems.

Since her incorporation to IHCantabria, she has participated in may projects, mostly involving hydrodynamic modeling for quantifying sediment yield, assessing the quality of water masses and analyzing the effects of climate change in different types of water bodies.
