IHCantabria has participated in the ‘DEEP Conference’ for business innovation ecosystems that, in its 2025 edition, focuses on the Nature-based Economy

Researchers from the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the Universidad de Cantabria (IHCantabria) has participated in the international conference ‘DEEP Conference’, on March 26 and 27, where they have contributed as co-facilitator of the workshop DIVE 2-2, focused on the analysis of funding opportunities for the development of nature-based economic activities and the creation of consortia for the development of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) in Europe.

DEEP Conference is a congress driven by DEEP Ecosystems that brings together leaders from the business ecosystem, investors and governments from Europe and other continents to share ideas, learn and collaborate to drive innovation through transformative partnerships. Its main objective is to promote BNS as a key enabler of climate resilience, biodiversity enhancement and human well-being; accelerate the transition to a positive economy for nature and people; and engage the private sector in financing for nature.

This year, the 2025 edition of the DEEP Conference was held on March 26 and 27 in Spain, in Aranda de Duero, Burgos. The thematic focus of this edition is the Nature-based Economy, within the framework of the European Green Pact. 

Throughout these two days of work, attendees were able to discuss how to integrate sustainability into European economic development, the importance of integrating nature into decision-making processes for the development of private sector business models and what are the current opportunities for the development of NBS.

NBSCLIMATE co-organizes the event in collaboration with other referent entities, such as IUCN-Med, CONAMA, CARTIF, Rewilding Spain, University of Burgos, Land Life, CESFOR, IHCantabria, Wilderway, Ecoacsa, GFI Spain, Sweden Foodtech, EcoLaunch, Innobound, Eatable Adventures, Maarifa for Transition, Getboarded, Tokeportal, Academy of Entrepreneurship or Vivinnov. 

Structured around expert panels and workshops (‘DEEP Dives’), this international congress addressed the challenges and opportunities presented by the Nature-Based Economy for both rural and urban areas.
