The International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) has awarded the “M. Selim Yalin Lifetime Achievement Award” to Prof. Losada in its 8th edition.

The Award is made biennially by IAHR to one of its members whose experimental, theoretical or numerical research has resulted in significant and enduring contributions to the understanding of the physics of phenomena and/or processes in hydraulic science or engineering and who demonstrated outstanding skills in graduate teaching and supervision.

According to the IAHR, Prof. Losada, who is the third European researcher to receive it, has received it “for his significant and enduring contributions to the understanding of the physics of phenomena and processes in hydraulic science and engineering; that have had a wide international impact on both applied engineering and policy making.”.

Founded in 1935, the IAHR is an independent global organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application with more than 4000 individual and 125 institutional members from around the world.
