Biography

Pepe Barquín holds a PhD in Ecology from Massey University, New Zealand. Pepe has enjoyed different postdoctoral positions at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in New Zealand and at the Universidad de Cantabria and was granted the Juan de la Cierva position during the 2009-2011 and the Ramón y Cajal during 2012-2017 in the Department of Water Sciences and Techniques of the Universidad de Cantabria (Universidad de Cantabria).

Currently Pepe is a Associate Professor at the Universidad de Cantabria, where he participates in numerous competitive research projects and in contracts with the administration or companies as a principal investigator and is a member of the Iberian Limnology Association, of the Iberian Society of Ichthyology, of the Society for Freshwater Sciences and the New Zealand Freshwater Science Society. Pepe has also directed numerous master’s and doctoral theses and teaches on a master’s degree on water ecosystems management at Universidad de Cantabria.
