Biography

Maria has a degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Vigo. After finishing the Master in Integrated Coastal Zone Management by the Universidad de Cantabria (2014), she had her first contact with the consultancy in the field of maritime climate in private companies, as a scholarship holder of the Santander-Crue-Cepyme program where she participated in the development of a wave atlas for Galicia in collaboration with Meteogalicia.

After more than 4 years developing her professional activity in the private sector in Mexico as coordinator of oceanography and coastal engineering projects and having participated in national and international projects such as Peru, Ecuador or Belize, mainly in the design of beach regenerations, she finally joined the Marine Climate and Climate Change group of IHCantabria in November 2019.

She currently works as a technologist within the group, focusing on the statistical analysis of marine climate, study of extreme events, wave hindcast and wind and wave downscaling under present and future scenarios.
