Alexia María González Ferreras is a PhD in Coastal Engineering, Hydrobiology and Management of Aquatic Systems from the University of Cantabria. She holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of León and a Masters in Environmental Management of Water Systems from the Universidad de Cantabria. Her PhD was financed with a predoctoral grant from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Reference: BES-2013-065770) and it is focused on the determination and modeling of spatial patterns of brown trout in the Deva-Cares catchment analyzing the role of connectivity and the niche.
Since 2012 she has been a researcher at IHCantabria. Her research focuses on the study of spatial patterns of biophysical characteristics in river networks and the study of fish populations and communities, with several scientific publications and papers at international conferences on the subject. She has participated in different research projects and management of freshwater ecosystems, both national and international.
She is a member of the Iberian Association of Limnology and has participated in several collaborative science projects.
