Fisheries and Aquatic Ecosystems Science in AFBI (Northern Ireland) – a broad perspective (Adam Mellor).


Biography: Dr Adam Mellor is a senior scientist within the Coastal Zone Management group of the Agri-Food and Bioscience Institute in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Work undertaken within this group includes operational met-ocean monitoring systems for coastal water quality assessments, Acoustic Energy assessments (and bio-acoustic analyses), Environmental monitoring for pollution response, the "SPRES" pollution modelling project, WFD & MSFD policy development, Environmental Impact assessments, Inshore Fisheries management and sea-floor habitat mapping. Adam sits on the UK Governments Ocean Process Evidence Group and also forms the secretariat for this group, as well as being involved in the steering groups for the UK Governments Integrated Marine Observing Network (UK-IMON), and representing Northern Ireland in the Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP) and the PREMIAM pollution response partnership.
