IHCantabria and De La Salle University, in collaboration with the Ateneo de Manila University, organized the training event “Capacity building on partnerships with socioeconomic actors” during the International Workshop on Multi Hazard Early Warning and Resilience Building, held in Kandy, Sri Lanka between the 5th and 11th of March 2018. Experiences and case studies on how to engage with end-users and socio economic actors were presented from Spain, Sri Lanka and The Philippines partners. An interactive discussion session with more than 70 experts from Europe…
In addition to Acciona, the engineering firm Sener Infraestructuras y Sistemas S.A. and IHCantabria are participating as technical assistance in this macro-project. IHCantabria will carry out the probabilistic study of cyclones and tsunamis to verify the design parameters of the viaduct, very important effects taking into account the study area. The new Cebu-Cordova Bridge (Philippines) is an 8.5 km cable-stayed bridge that will connect the industrial area of Cebu City with the new developments in Cordoba located on the island of Mactan. This is a…
We are very proud to announce a new edition of the IHPropaga training course, this time in IHCantabria headquarters, in Santander, next May 17 & 18.   IHPropaga strategy gathers the global framework to downscale wave reanalysis to coastal areas drastically reducing the CPU time effort (about 1000 ×) by using a hybrid methodology (Camus et al. 2013), which combines numerical models (dynamical downscaling) and mathematical tools (statistical downscaling). The GUI easily handles all SWAN setup requirements, including pre and post-process related to: bathymetry,…
We are very proud to announce a new edition of the IH2VOF training course, this time in IHCantabria headquarters, in Santander, next May 21st.   IH2VOF is an extensively tested and validated 2DV RANS model which uses the VOF method. It can solve flow within porous media by means of the VARANS (Volume-Averaged RANS) equations. Wave generation including the most used theories is implemented for several procedures: Dirichlet boundary condition, moving boundary method (pyston-type wavemaker replication) or internal wave maker (mass source function). It features active and passive…
Ignacio Aguirre Ayerbe and María Merino, researchers at the Coastal Engineering and Management Group of IHCantabria, participate this week in the International Workshop on MHEW and resilience building, held in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This international workshop is organized under the CABARET (Capacity Building in Asia for Resilience EducaTion) Project, funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS +programme. Over 70 experts from across Europe and Asia are meeting this week to foster regional cooperation for more effective multi-hazard early warning and increased disaster resilience among coastal communities. The…
