The University of Cantabria, and the research practiced in IHCantabria, sixth in the world university ranking of Shanghai and world leader in the CNCI indicator

Yesterday the new Shanghai Universities Ranking was made public. ShangaiRanking is considered the most important, objective and influential in the world and, for the first time, this year expands the ranking to 52 disciplines. The 2017 ranking is based on bibliometric data from scientific publications between 2011-2015 extracted from InCites (Web of Science).

In the central research discipline of IHCantabria, Marine / Ocean Engineering the University of Cantabria and by extension IHCantabria occupies the 6th position of the world, which is an achievement without equal.

More importantly, the University of Cantabria leads the CNCI indicator globally with more than 20 points on the next university in this indicator, which means that the UC articles in this field are the most cited in relation to the world average.

Of the 52 disciplines, only 15 Spanish universities appear and only the Polytechnic University of Madrid occupies a higher position than the UC, the 5th in Civil Engineering.

This way, the research and teaching practiced in the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics (IHCantabria) and in the ETS of Paths, Channels and Ports of the UC
