IHCantabria Present at OMAE2016

IHCantabria was present last week in the OMAE 2016 held in Busan, South Korea. Besides participating in the conference with two presentations, which shown some of theresearch  lines that are being developed, the meeting provided a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of renewable energy.
 
José Antonio Armesto (Researcher al Marine Renewable Energies and Offshore Engineering Group ) explained the work done during the Mermaid project, where a new multipurpose platform that combines the estraction of energy from wind and waves was analyzed. Details of the design of the platform, the behavior during the lab tests and the development of an in-house numerical model to study its behavior, were described.
 
On the other hand, Michele Martini (PhD student at the Marine Renewable Energies and Offshore Engineering Group) showed a new methodology for analyzing the accesibility to offshore infrastructure for O&M operations. This methodology has been applied to the accesibility for O&M of the OC4 platformwhen using two different boats in Aguçadora, Portugal and according to meteoceanicas present conditions.
